This will be a blog post that will continue throughout the year.
With the lack of passion and motivation I am witnessing in my life (from my peers, family and friends) I thought I would create a long blog post that will be updates regularly with work that is being created from some of the most inspiring people I know (or even work I stumble across in my research). I won’t be restricting this to one genre, I want to include all forms of art. Everything.
ADAM ELAKIAS EDIT CHALLANGE (INCLUDE MY FAVE)
Adam Elmakias has been a live music photographer who I have looked up for years, he recently launched a website that is directed at small time content creators helping them get one off jobs in their local area. During COVID-19, Elmakias has been working with other full time music photographers to create new RAW editing challenges every week. Elmakias will release one RAW file to the public for anyone to download and edit, then hold a livestream where he talks to the original photographer and goes through their favourite edits done by the public. I find these so refreshing and exciting to complete on a weekly basis, and while I have never won, it is interesting to see how hundreds of other photographers are editing the same photo in such unique ways.
BOSTON MANOR NEW ALBUM VISUALS
I have been involved in the music industry for over three years now, I have met some incredibly hard working individuals who are now really struggling to have a basic 9-5 with the events of COVID-19. In the last 7 weeks, I have seen less than 5 albums realised, but one record by Boston Manor really stuck out to me. This isn’t the space for me to talk about the music, but rather the visuals that have been put out along side the album. All photographed by lead guitarist Dan Cunniff, the three main camping photos show a man by himself in very thought provoking landscapes. I think these photos rally portray how everyone is feeling at the moment, trapped inside technology, sitting on a high ledge.
