During my first year at University, we were tasked with making a first draft website, most of used Wix (me included). It was very simple to use, with no real complicated coding needed, a drag and drop system. The live website is free to have, however I could not change the domain which comes across as very unprofessional to clients. This old website is still live and can be found here - https://baileykidd0.wixsite.com/baileykiddphotos
During my second year of studies, we were again tasked to create a much more professional and efficient website. From then I have been using Square Space to design and curate my online web portfolio, it took me a long time to know the basics, but they offer an around the clock online help for paying customers. I also found myself using YouTube tutorials to help with image sizing and page formats. I brought my domain (www.baileykidd.co.uk) from GoDaddy for 99p, this lasts three years. I spent many hours using the built in templates with my own images, some of my favourites were Wexley, Flatrion and Basil, however I needed up using Wells for my live site. I remember back in first year, one of my lectures mentioned how she has the same font on all her brands, so when it came to text, tittles and body I used the font ‘Times New Roman” as it is the same as my business card and print store.
Some smaller, unnoticeable features of my website is how links will always open in a new tab, readers of my website don’t want to search again for me site, so having it stay open in a tab really helps the viewer navigate back to my website. When hovering over a new page link, it will highlight in pink, the same colour that is present on my CV and print store, this makes all my professional sources appear to work in unison. It was also really important to me to make sure all links on my website always work, weather it was my CV, Instagram or Print Store. One aspect of website I find really annoying is faulty links.
